GIVE HELP

What can you do if you know someone who is in a potentially violent or violent relationship?

  • KEEP AN OPEN MIND

If someone has opened up to you, they’re taking an important step to let you know what is happening in their life. Please listen with an open heart and mind.

  • DO NOT JUDGE THEM

Body language is very important. Be aware of your nonverbal cues when listening to them.

  • WHAT DO YOU SAY?
    • Be reassuring and empathetic
      • Ask them if they would like to talk about it and/or if there is anything you can do to help
      • Let them know you are there when they need you
    • Remind them that they are not alone or are to blame.
    • Use encouraging and empowering language to focus on their goodness.
  • RESOURCES TO REACH OUT FOR HELP
